This photograph explores nightmares related to a past. The character is hidden in the cellar while the terror of a war reigns upstairs. Maurice was coming out dressed in a military outfit that reminded me of this image and the meaning that this bait may have had for him. The explosions and clouds of smoke were created with wadding, cotton and led.
